Tara Walker is a self-professed ‘Geek Girl’. She is passionate about software engineering, exploring technical strategies, and embracing challenges to make a difference in people’s lives through technology.  She is well versed in all things cloud; mobile, IoT, serverless, AI, and gaming development.  Consequently, her grasp of the myriad underlying development languages, allows for meaningful technical consults with developers and software engineers. In addition, Tara can often be found speaking about her areas of expertise, both in the United States and abroad.

Tara brings over 20 years of industry experience to bear on her current job as a Technical Evangelist for Amazon Web Services.  Prior to AWS, she worked at various Fortune 500 companies including Microsoft, Turner and Georgia Pacific. Currently, Tara’s professional focus is on evangelizing cloud computing, mobile, gaming, IoT, serverless backend architectures, and cross-platform development with AWS.

Tara firmly believes, and seeks to empower developers to realize that they can leverage their technical abilities to move beyond becoming great engineers, to gifted inventors of the next ‘big thing’ in technology.

About the Event

SyntaxCon (derived from Syntax Conference) is Coastal South Carolina’s premier programmer’s code conference. The event is a full stack code conference focused on fostering ongoing education and opportunities among the developer community.

This year’s schedule provides content across 3 main tracks, each with a specific focus:

  • Front-End Development
  • Back-End Development
  • Platforms (content management systems, cloud-hosted services, mobile applications and infrastructure.

Attendees can customize their personal agenda by choosing sessions with an aim to improve their craft, fulfill goals, and learn cutting edge trends and best practices in a relatively short time.
