Seven Reasons to Attend Syntax Conference 2018

Reasons to Attend Syntax Conference 2018

As denizens of the tech community at large, we’re passionate enough about what we do, that we breathe a culture of constant learning, tweaking, building; and sharing our discoveries with like-minded folk.  You’ll find that SyntaxCon covers the breadth of, and embraces the diversity inherent to the technical community.  That said, here are just a few reasons we encourage you to attend Syntax Conference 2018.

To Learn:  Well, duh! But seriously, when was the last time you invested in a learning experience to master essential techniques aimed at optimizing your systems and/or applications for trouble-free, time saving performance?  At SyntaxCon, our speakers (your peers; and industry leaders), bring years of experience and insight to bear on their presentations; along with a passion for sharing what they’ve learnt.  Expect to receive hype-free pointers on increasing productivity/lowering deployment costs, and ensuring that your code is secure.

Broaden Your Knowledge Base:  Without a doubt, you’ll be exposed to new projects, services, languages, techniques and tools. You’ll hear about unpublished data, and maybe meet that speaker who hadn’t yet crossed your radar.  SyntaxCon facilitates idea exchange, with opportunities to ask presenters about their work, and the rationale behind it – you’ll have access to much more than reading a technical blog can offer.

To Present Your Ideas and Work to Others: Whether you’re at SyntaxCon in the capacity of speaker or attendee, presenting on, or conversing about the work you do will make you more confident; and as people  ask questions, you’ll get feedback on your work that may provide new insight.

Make Resourceful Connections:  Expect to be surrounded by innovative and creative developers, as SyntaxCon 2018 will host members of the tech community from the Pacific Northwest, the Midwest, the Lowcountry and along the Northeastern seaboard of the United States.  Simply put, SyntaxCon is the ideal place to extend your professional network.  We offer both insightful sessions, and opportunities to socialize with fellow attendees at Rusty Bull Brewing.  These connections could lead to new job opportunities, business partners, and friends.

For People to Meet You:  It’s one thing for developers to connect online, and yet another to meet and socialize face-to-face.  In-person interactions add depth and complexity to previously one-dimensional correspondence. Whether you are a tech industry icon, a community newbie; or first time presenter, you may meet someone between sessions, or at one of SyntaxCon’s happy hour mixers, and make a connection that could dramatically impact you personally and/or professionally.  This is especially important when you are looking for collaborators, exploring job prospects, looking to recruit skilled personnel or even committee members. Conferences are a way to get your name and your work out there as you go about the business of establishing yourself in your discipline.

A Great Way to End a Humdrum Week:  SyntaxCon is strategically scheduled at the end of the work week, to afford attendees the opportunity to escape whatever four walls constitute their work space; and strategically open the door for a mini vacation in the Lowcountry. Come for the Conference, Stay for the Weekend!  You’ll already be here, so intentionally soak up some of that southern charm and cuisine.  Also add explorations of North Charleston and the wider Charleston area to your list of post-SyntaxCon things to do.

Location, Location, Location:  SyntaxCon is being hosted a mere 3.5 miles from the Charleston International Airport (Airport Code CHS) at the North Charleston Marriott, which doubles as the conference venue and preferred hotel.  If you opt to stay at the North Charleston Marriott, complimentary airport shuttle service is available, rendering vehicle rental/parking costs a non-issue.  The City of North Charleston is located just outside of downtown Charleston, within reach of the area’s most popular attractions and top rated businesses.  While you’re here, you may want to experience a little of what the Lowcountry has to offer – from a variety of things to do including shopping, to local food and drink establishments and even suggestions for day trips with individual local stops that you can make a destination of.
